Chapter 5.4: Hemolytic Anemia
1. Hemolytic Anemia due to Maternal-Fetal Blood Group Incompatibility:
- Phototherapy Distance: 1 meter
- Phototherapy target for reduction of free Bilirubin: < 1 mg/100 ml blood
- 10% Glucose Infusion: 50 – 100 ml/kg
- Albumin: 20 ml/kg
- Exchange Transfusion: 200 ml/kg
2. Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia:
- Splenectomy if Corticosteroids are ineffective after: 6 months
3. Thalassemic Hemolytic Anemia:
- Packed Red Blood Cell Transfusion: 10 – 20 ml/kg
- Maintain Hb level: 8 – 11
- Desferal 500 mg: Subcutaneous infusion
- a.Folic: 5 mg/day
