Carbon-laden lymph node
Image: The carbon-laden lymph node depicts the following structures:
- Carbon-laden lymph node: This is the center of the image, surrounded by adipose tissue (orange).
- Adipose tissue (around the lymph node): Surrounding the lymph node, colored orange.
- Fibrous capsule: Surrounding the lymph node, colored blue.
- Secondary lymph nodules: Small circular structures, colored orange, distributed throughout the lymph node.
- Subcapsular sinus (located below the fibrous capsule, outside the lymph nodules): Located just below the fibrous capsule, colored orange, containing lymphocytes.
- Perinodular sinus: Surrounding the lymph nodules, colored blue, containing lymphocytes.
- Carbon-laden macrophages: Cells colored orange, containing black carbon particles, distributed within the sinuses.
Details:
- Carbon-laden macrophages are primarily found within the subcapsular sinuses and perinodular sinuses.
- Lymph sinuses meander between the lymphoid tissue and secondary lymph nodules, colored orange, containing lymphocytes, macrophages, and lymph fluid.
- Secondary lymph nodules contain lymphocytes (orange) and plasma cells (orange).
Note:
- Orange arrows point to structures colored orange.
- Blue arrows point to structures colored blue.
- The rectangle indicates the area of the perinodular sinus.
