Chapter 7.2: Heart Failure (Part 2)
1. Heart Failure: Treating Tremors
Tremors are a common symptom in heart failure patients, caused by a lack of oxygen to the brain.
Treatment for tremors in heart failure cases should be done under the strict supervision of a cardiologist.
The dosage of medication is adjusted depending on the individual case, based on age, weight, health status, and the patient’s response.
Important Notes:
- Medication dosage should be carefully adjusted by a cardiologist.
- Do not self-medicate or change dosages without a doctor’s prescription.
- Closely monitor the patient’s health status during treatment.
- Report any adverse reactions to the doctor immediately.
A. Aminazine 1-2 mg/kg:
- Aminazine is a neuroleptic drug used to treat tremors.
- The usual dose for adults is 1-2 mg/kg, divided into multiple doses throughout the day.
- However, this dosage may vary depending on the case.
- Aminazine can cause side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, etc.
B. Aminazine 2-4 mg/kg:
- This dosage is too high and can cause serious side effects.
- This dosage should not be used unless prescribed by a doctor.
- A dosage of 2-4 mg/kg can cause serious side effects such as confusion, coma, respiratory arrest, etc.
>> A: The Aminazine dosage of 1-2 mg/kg is a more appropriate dose in this case.
2. Heart Failure: Treating Tremors
A. Haloperidol 0.01 – 0.03 mg/kg:
- Haloperidol is an antipsychotic medication used to treat tremors.
- The usual dose for adults is 0.01 – 0.03 mg/kg, divided into multiple doses throughout the day.
- This dosage may vary depending on the case.
- Haloperidol can cause side effects such as dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, constipation, etc.
B. Haloperidol 0.03 – 0.05 mg/kg:
- This dosage is too high and can cause serious side effects.
- This dosage should not be used unless prescribed by a doctor.
- A dosage of 0.03 – 0.05 mg/kg can cause serious side effects such as confusion, coma, respiratory arrest, etc.
>> B: The Haloperidol dosage of 0.03 – 0.05 mg/kg is a more appropriate dose in this case.
3. Heart Failure: Treating Tremors
A. Vitamin B:
- Vitamin B plays an important role in maintaining nerve function.
- A deficiency in vitamin B can cause tremors and other neurological problems.
- Supplementation with vitamin B can help improve tremors in heart failure patients.
B. Vitamin C:
- Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that helps protect the body from free radical damage.
- Vitamin C does not have a direct effect on treating tremors.
>> A: Supplementation with Vitamin B is necessary in this case.
Note:
- Vitamin B supplementation should be done under the supervision of a cardiologist.
- The dosage of vitamin B is adjusted depending on the individual case.
- Do not self-medicate with vitamin B without a doctor’s prescription.
